Vergennes Broadband joins Point Broadband to expand fiber network in Western Michigan

by

LOWELL, MICHIGAN (Jan. 15, 2021) – Vergennes Broadband (VB Fiber), a locally owned and operated provider of fiber-to-the-home and fiber-fixed wireless Internet services, today announced the sale of its company to West Point, Ga.-based Point Broadband. Vergennes Broadband (VB Fiber) will be rebranded Point Broadband later this year.

Vergennes Broadband began in 2012, offering the area of Lowell, Michigan much-needed faster Internet service through fiber-fixed wireless. Three years later, the company brought fiber-to-the-home service to the area under the VB Fiber name.

“We are excited to welcome the successful and talented VB Fiber family to the Point Broadband team,” said Todd Holt, CEO of Point Broadband. “Our businesses share the same core values and extreme focus on taking care of our customers and being engaged in the communities we serve.  We are ready to expand our broadband network to serve many additional communities in the western Michigan region.”

Holt said Vergennes customers will continue to enjoy the same exceptional local service, support and reliability they’ve enjoyed, only under the new Point Broadband brand. Vergennes Broadband founders, Ryan and Stephanie Peel, will continue on with Point Broadband.

“Stephanie and Ryan did an amazing job building a state-of-the-art fiber network from the ground up, and Point Broadband will benefit from their knowledge and expertise as they continue on with Point Broadband supporting the local community,” Holt added. “We are looking forward to an exciting future in Michigan.”

“The need for greater broadband accessibility for residents of western Michigan is greater than ever before as people work and learn more from home and grow their businesses,” said Stephanie Peel of Vergennes Broadband. “We’re excited about this deal with Point Broadband that will allow continued expansion of our fast-fiber network into areas that need it most.”
