Millions of Americans Qualify for Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program

WEST POINT, GA. – Point Broadband, a 100% fiber Internet provider operating in 10 states, has announced participation in the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program. This is a federal program designed to ensure eligible households can stay connected if they are struggling to pay for Internet service during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Point Broadband was founded on the belief that everyone deserves affordable access to fast, reliable, 100% fiber Internet,” said Todd Holt, CEO.

He added that Point Broadband signed on “pretty much immediately” upon learning this benefit was going to be offered to millions of Americans as part of the Federal Covid-19 Relief Package.

“The pandemic has confirmed that broadband Internet access is an essential service as we continue to work and learn from our homes,” Holt said. “Participation in the EBB program builds on our company’s commitment to delivering a superior broadband solution to American families.”Through the EBB program, qualifying households receive a $50 monthly credit to help pay for Internet service. This benefit will provide millions of Americans with access to critical services like telemedicine, education, employment, social services, banking, email, shopping, news, emergency information and so much more.

The program is available in every U.S. state and territory and tens of millions of Americans qualify. If even one person in a household receives, qualifies for, or participates in any of the below-listed programs, that entire household is eligible for the EBB program.

  • Medicaid
  • SNAP
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance
  • Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit
  • Lifeline Program
  • Tribal Programs for Residents on Qualifying Tribal Lands
  • USDA School Breakfast/Lunch Program
  • Pell Grant Funding

Households that have experienced income loss during the pandemic and meet certain income requirements are also eligible under the program. To check qualifications and apply visit https://getemergencybroadband.org.
