Opelika, Alabama

Lee County

Nestled in the plains of east-central Alabama sits beautiful Lee County. The county seat belongs to Opelika, which gets its name from the Muskogee word for “large swamp.” This charming southern city built its prosperity in the railroad and manufacturing industry. At one point, the extension of the Montgomery and West Point railroads that connected Opelika to Atlanta, Georgia, became the only direct route between New Orleans and the eastern seaboard. With this robust transportation infrastructure, Opelika became a mill and manufacturing hub in the southeast.

Today, Opelika is still a city on the rise. From Opelika’s Tiger Town to the Opelika Sportsplex and Aquatics Center to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Grand National Golf Course, there is no shortage of options for entertainment and activity. The 54-hole complex is the crown jewel of the renowned Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and sits on over 600 Lake Saugahatchee acres.

Lee County’s largest city is Auburn, home to the Auburn University Tigers. A few of Lee County’s unincorporated areas include Gold Hill, Beauregard and Salem. Nature is in no short supply either. Chewacla State Park is 696 acres south of I-85 offering waterfalls, swimming, fishing, and more.

Fiber-to-the-Premises Network

Point Broadband is proud to offer its Fiber-to-the-Premises Network which sends data much faster than cable Internet. It’s delivered on a fiber optic connection, which facilitates more consistent speed than cable – even during peak usage times. With speeds up to 1 Gbps, fiber-to-the-premises Internet uses cutting edge technology so that information is sent via small, flexible strands of glass that transmit light. This allows data to be sent faster over greater distances with upload speeds equal to download speeds. Fiber-to-the-premises Internet connectivity also offers significant reliability advantages over other traditional options.

Fiber-Fed Fixed Wireless Network

Point Broadband’s Fixed Wireless network serves areas that, until now, have had limited or no Internet service. Our fixed wireless technology offers high-speed Internet access via a fiber-fed wireless signal from vertical assets in each community. Supporting speeds upward of 50 Mbps, our fixed wireless network is much more robust than antiquated DSL (phone line) Internet, and when compared to satellite Internet, provides much better latency due to significantly less signal distance traveled.

Hands down the best Internet service I've had so far. Reliable and better prices than Mediacom and ATT. I'm very happy so far.

We have been with Point Broadband for about a year now. We have had virtually no down time, regardless of weather or any other factor. Prior to Point, service was sporadic and unreliable and the temptation to go back to satellite internet was tempting, but because of the superior service experience with Point Broadband we could not be happier. We would heartily recommend Point Broadband to any one, or any business.
