Finger Lakes Region, New York

A few miles southeast of Ithaca, New York is the town of Slaterville Springs.  Slaterville Springs can be found in the Tompkins County town of Caroline.  This area was settled in 1794 and todays is the home to more state forest land than any other town in Tompkins County, including Hammond Hill State Forest and Robinson Hollow State Forest.  In 2005, Caroline become New York’s second municipality to purchase wind power for 100% of its electricity.

On the north side of Tompkins County is the town of Dryden, New York.  East of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes region, Dryden’s Southworth Library sold an original manuscript of the speech that Abraham Lincoln delivered at the White House after his re-election for $3.44 million in 2009.  The manuscript had called Dryden home since 1926.

Tompkins County is committed to providing its citizens with the best.  The investment in alternative energy is one example.  Now the county is committed to expanding broadband internet access to its residents.

Here are a few of the many things to do and see in Tompkins County:

Point Broadband also serves select parts of Newfield, Danby, Groton, Lansing, and Richford, and also serves parts of Cortland, Tioga, and Broome Counties (west of Marathon and east of Harford).

Fiber-to-the-Premises Network

Point Broadband is proud to offer its Fiber-to-the-Premises Network which sends data much faster than cable Internet. It’s delivered on a fiber optic connection, which facilitates more consistent speed than cable – even during peak usage times. With speeds up to 1 Gbps, fiber-to-the-premises Internet uses cutting edge technology so that information is sent via small, flexible strands of glass that transmit light. This allows data to be sent faster over greater distances with upload speeds equal to download speeds. Fiber-to-the-premises Internet connectivity also offers significant reliability advantages over other traditional options.

Fiber-Fed Fixed Wireless Network

Point Broadband’s Fixed Wireless network serves areas that, until now, have had limited or no Internet service. Our fixed wireless technology offers high-speed Internet access via a fiber-fed wireless signal from vertical assets in each community. Supporting speeds upward of 50 Mbps, our fixed wireless network is much more robust than antiquated DSL (phone line) Internet, and when compared to satellite Internet, provides much better latency due to significantly less signal distance traveled.

Hands down the best Internet service I've had so far. Reliable and better prices than Mediacom and ATT. I'm very happy so far.

We have been with Point Broadband for about a year now. We have had virtually no down time, regardless of weather or any other factor. Prior to Point, service was sporadic and unreliable and the temptation to go back to satellite internet was tempting, but because of the superior service experience with Point Broadband we could not be happier. We would heartily recommend Point Broadband to any one, or any business.
